A Hollywood Smile: How to take care of your doggies teeth

Updated: Jun 21, 2023

It often happens when owners do not even think about the issue of looking after their pet’s teeth. But it is as important as for us, humans. Regular and fairly easy care gives an amazing result!

What diseases of the oral cavity can happen:

plaque (regular care at home makes it easy to prevent this disease)

tartar (quite a serious problem; it is formed if you do not remove plaque for a long time; not only it doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing, but it can also lead to tooth loss and gingivitis)

Gingivitis - an inflammatory process in the oral cavity

All three diseases lead to bad breath.

Your Pet's Oral Care

Puppies aged 4-6 months have milk teeth which will change to permanent. At this time, the oral cavity does not require any special care. At the age of 2-4 months, before the change of teeth, we can teach the baby further measures. (do not rush, let the baby get used to it, you have enough time).

To teach him you should briefly raise his lips (raise and lower) during your conversations with the puppy, while saying: “Brush your teeth” and praise the baby by encouraging a treat.

The next step is to wrap a clean bandage on your finger and brush the teeth with it in front and side, also saying the command “Brush your teeth” (in the direction: forward-backward, top-down, bottom-up)

Please note: during the change of teeth, be extremely careful and do not overdo it. Common sense must be present.

After the teeth change, it’s enough to take care of pet’s oral cavity for 2 times a week, so that your pet will have healthy teeth. If you turn the procedure into a joyful game, your pet will wait impatiently for his favorite command “Brush your teeth”.

You can clean it using a bandage to remove plaque or you can apply a few drops of palm oil on the bandage.

You can also use toothbrushes ( it’s a wide variety of them) or a finger nozzle in the form of a toothbrush - put all kinds of brushes in the water before the procedure and let them absorb a little water. Dogs are happy to clean their teeth by biting the toothbrush while you are directing it to the necessary zones.

I wish all your pets have snow-white healthy teeth !!
